Slow Mo Blog

The higher frames per second a camera recording has not only the more fluent the overall film will be, but the slowmotion will be less choppy and more fluent as well. If the camera recording has less fps, than the video will be choppy in and out kinda like a lag preference. ALthough cameras with higher FPS have higher price rates and eventually the more frames the worse the quality of a video you'll need to get more FPS.

Summarizer of Metropolis

The Mediator is Frederson, because at the ending he brings two people together, his father and a worker, and it shows him taking both hands of one another and combining them together to show a bond of forgiveness or trust. Although the girl that Frederson falls in love with could also be the Mediator because if it wasn't for her, Frederson wouldn't be in that position of joining two different people together.

I believe Fritz is showing a sense of False Face for the future, because once technology evolves there will be all this great inspiration and improvement, but on the down side people with too much technology could become easily corrupt and use that has a form of Fascism. It could also show the potential the human race could be temped by one person or something, as-well as how bad the human race could downfall.

Critique Reflection

• Examine the comments you received on your film.
  • A lot of people really enjoyed my editing and camera angles. The close-up shot with Sam and Duane really showed a good sense of reaction and formal balance. The music fitted the parts when it was necessary and over-all it was a really enjoyable film with great acting.
• Reflect on what you feel you or your group did best
  • We as a group enjoyed and did great acting performance. Of-course there was time for serious moments and comedic moments which we tried our best to incorporate both, which Sam did an amazing job at. We also did a great job with time management because we were one of the first done recording and it was definitely one of the longer videos as well.

• Reflect on what your classmates said you or your group did well.
  • They all really enjoyed my editing, and camera movements. They also loved the groups acting as well as "bloopers" that Sam put at the end of his video.

• Reflect on what you feel you or your group need to improve on.
  • Definitely more cooperation with some on the group members, but other than that, there's not really anything to improve on.

• Reflect on what your classmates suggested you or your group improve on.
  • More edits or "background" to the story so the audience knows whats happening before the actual event, because the beginning was a little questionable.

• Finally, write a statement on your strengths and weaknesses
and formulate a plan for what to focus on during future projects.
What can you improve?
  • The storyboard before the actual shooting of the film, I had a little trouble trying to coordinate it with the film itself.

What are your strengths and how can you make them
even better?
  • My editing and "soundtrack". I can probably improve them by looking on more ways to import edits into the film to make it more enjoyable for others. Definitely spend some extra time searching some new ways to edit.

School 101

 1

During the chase scene with Sam the Dolly Across shot showed the viewers on how intense the scene was, of-course until he ran into the teacher (Kaci). Then there was a reaction shot of Sam when he got caught. There was also a Quick Push In shot with the Bully (Sam) after he took Duane's money which showed the audience on how much of an evil person he is. In the film, there was multiple different shot angles to express the character or the environment. Most common were Close Up, and Over The Shoulder, but the other angles are clearly represented into the film. Recommendations would be quite simple, find background music first so it adds in a nice feeling when theirs not action, also making a lot of Audio Tracks in the beginning because especially when making a film where you can only use the sounds that you have to import is a rough challenge to fit them all in so it's best to overlap.

It was ok, I wouldn't say it was the best due to the fact it was our first time recording. Our team was pretty efficient due to the fact that we knew where to go at what positions that we were going to record. I haven't had much experience though because my experience editing is mainly in the video games the so the recording wasn't done manually. Although I could done better with better or more time especially with time to edit it. But with that being said, I was restricted so it wasn't my best work.

Elements and Principles of Design

Leading lines refers to a technique of composition where the viewer of your photos attention is drawn to lines that lead to the main subject of the image. A leading linepaves an easy path for the eye to follow through different elements of a photo.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vertical lines have the ability to convey a variety of different moods in a photograph ranging from power and strength (think of skyscrapers) to growth (think of trees).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Horizontal lines tend to indicate a sense of homeostasis (lack of change). This use in an image often projects a feeling that an image, or part of one, is somehow frozen at a point in time. Horizontal lines should be used when a photographer wants to impart a sentiment of timelessness or lack of change to an image. In addition, they can serve to provide a contrast with more dynamic parts of an image.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most photographers’ primary use for diagonal lines is to lead the eye to a certain point in the photo. Diagonal lines are extremely effective at doing this.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Curves make an image easy to look at by leading the viewer's eye through the frame. It is almost as if the photographer takes the viewer by the hand, draws them into the landscape, and points the way. The viewer's eyes are compelled to follow the lineCurves are graceful, rhythmic, dynamic and add energy to an image.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Formal balance, also called symmetrical balance, is a concept of aesthetic composition involving equal weight and importance on both sides of a composition.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Informal balance means they are not strictly symmetrical, but appear to be so because of the composition of slightly asymmetrical elements.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unity is taking the parts of a piece of art and unifying them in to something better as a whole. Composition is a great way to do this.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Variety is about varying elements and objects in your image, to avoid making them boring. Variety can also be varying your angles, exposure, composition, etc., to get a few different looks to the same image.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Visual rhythm or tempo is two-dimensional, geometric perception of repeated beat. It is created by repeating positive shapes separated by negative spaces.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emphasis is defined as an area or object within the artwork that draws attention and becomes a focal point.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Proportion is used in photography to give the illusion that something is different in size, but still makes the photo fit together. 2 proportions that are used in composition would be the Golden Ration, and The Rule of Thirds.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Repetition photography is a way to grab the attention of your audience and draw them into the image.Repeating a shape throughout your photo gives you instant composition and can say a lot about your subject.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
bird's-eye view is an elevated view of an object from above, with a perspective as though the observer were a bird, often used in the making of blueprints, floor plans, and maps.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
worm's-eye view is a view of an object from below, as though the observer were a worm; the opposite of a bird's-eye view.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rule of thirds is applied by aligning a subject with the guide lines and their intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line, or allowing linear features in the image to flow from section to section.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Framing refers to using elements of a scene to create a frame within your frame.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most obvious (and easiest) is to place the subject against a neutral background such as a backdrop or the sky.
