Intention Definition & Exploration of Ideas:
Intention: A thing intended; an aim or plan.
My film was purposely meant to try to show the repetitive part of time/life. It's to show that everyday is gradually almost the same with very little changes or differences. I felt like that's a lot of adults or even some children experience a life that they do not enjoy or prefer something much greater. This film was suppose to represent that, to show that life can be extremely boring at some points or times. It's something everyone experiences in their life, that making a choice can have consequences or benefits to your ticking away time. Time is something that not only does every person have but every living thing holds. It really spoke out to me differently than the other subjects of media and art design.
Planning:
So at first I started my story board, pre-imaging on what was to come later when recording. I labeled them all with different shots with proper composition however I wanted it to be realistic, to be in my personal eyes, of my life, on what I do on a daily basis. To represent me as the average person of which I am. While my story board had the roughed out shots of where and what I wanted to shoot in my scenes, the camera angles were completely cut out of the planning. Luckily, I knew from the exact point I started thinking about this film, it was going to be a single person film, no help, no other important people to be in the film; Just myself. To implement time I needed to record different times of the day, while somehow showing the day is repeating and going through the day. So I knew from day one I needed to put into the video a way to show that time is passing, whether it was edited or using natural environment. I decided to go with the editing option with small references to real time. The script was a complicated subject, at first I was going to write one then as I started writing I realized not a lot of dialogue was going to be set in this short film, so I decided to scratch that area of pre production and went with a more upfront moment when to express something.
Producing/Evaluating:
So I decided to start recording at home as that was the easiest place to film, and where a majority of the clips were going to be shot at. I was using my IPhone with the 0.5 lens so the POV shots looked more accurate of projecting first person effect. I recorded my night clips daily so those were out of the way, quick and easy. Then I set a reminder on recording the way I get ready for the day, to go to school, which was basic necessities the hardest part was recording the bus clip. I had to rerecord that multiple times to make sure I didn't get anyone's face in my recordings. The best part of the morning is relaxing on the bus so that was a must to record in the morning so I just panned my phone to look out the window. I wanted to do some smooth transitions while adding no effects so I tried my best to line up the shots to focus the audience on the middle part to give it a fake zoom in transition. I wanted to record working at my job however we were always busy and having your phone on shift isn't properly professional, so recording inside wasn't ideal. Then that's when the hat with the logo "Wendys" was a perfect idea for a seamless transition to pass time. The last part to record was going to bed, I was originally going to only record one shot of that action but looking back while in the editing phase, it made it seem too basic to me. I wanted to put some flare into the video, the satisfaction of difference in a video that's meant to be repetitive and boring. So that's what I did, last minute I started recording different ways of going to bed to show emotions of the day of hard work. Editing was simple yet time consuming, I wanted to add an alarm clock audio to represent a new day, of the same boring day. Something that everyone regrets hearing whether its to go to school or to work. Then putting in the clock text in the bottom right of the screen. I had to mess around with the opacity effect to give the blinking ":" that a normal alarm clock gives off, and I was surprisingly satisfied with the copy and past after the first layer of effects was finished to the opacity layer. Editing consisted of flipping camera resolutions, text effects with opacity transitions, snipping, cutting and quick snapping ("w" on the timeline), and screen shaking and zooming; with minor audio adjustments. Recording the new late night clips however set me back by a good 20 minutes of editing and uploading.
Integration:
I've studied a lot of content over the years, not only from class but mainly from Youtube, how to edit faster, different techniques, learning effects, learning shortcuts, and understanding Premiere Pro a lot better then when I was younger and starting out. In Film 1 or 2 I was still heavily learning on different processes that made my edits and exports slower and wasted a lot more time to turn in a project when I could've done things not only a lot easier but faster. Learning something new inspires me to edit more to have fun. While only shown sparse in this film I've grown to gain better knowledge on how to make my films or videos look more professional no matter the tempo, or theme it's encountering.
(These Videos Helped me out learning quickly about Premiere Pro and techniques.)
